Safeguarding

At Ben Jonson Primary school we are committed to providing a safe and secure environment for children, staff and visitors. We promote an environment where children and adults will feel confident about sharing any concerns which they may have about their own safety or the well-being of others.

Safeguarding refers to the process of protecting children (and adults) to provide safe and effective care. This includes all procedures designed to prevent harm to a child. This is the pro-active measures we take to protect children. Child Protection is part of the safeguarding process and refers to the re-active steps taken once harm has been identified.

Our first priority as educators is the child’s welfare and every school is required to take reasonable action to ensure the safety of its pupils. If you have a safeguarding concern about the welfare of a child you are required to report this immediately to one of the Designated Safeguarding Leads or a senior member of staff. We will then take the relevant steps to reduce the risk of harm to any child or adult within our school community.

Outside of school hours please contact Tower Hamlets Children’s Social Care Emergency Duty Team (from 5.00pm onwards and weekends) 020 7364 4079

In regards to allegations against professionals, staff or volunteers you can seek advice from the LADO 020 7364 0677
